Philosophy and Meditation

Philosophy and Meditation - Thursday

This class is suitable for those who have some knowledge of Yoga Philosophy in its various forms, and also experience of meditation and Pranayama techniques.

The main focus of each class is the study of a philosophy-related text, taken from a diverse range of traditions and beliefs. Sessions will also include a 15-minute meditation practice and, periodically, instruction in Pranayama and chanting.

What can I expect in a Philosophy and Meditation Class?

As its name implies, the focus of this class is on the study of Philosophy and Wisdom, in all its forms and from a range of beliefs and traditions, ancient and modern. However, the class normally begins with a fifteen-minute meditation, which is unguided and allows students to follow their own established practice. The philosophical text is then presented and read through, with attendees encouraged to offer their own observations and ask relevant questions.

As with any consideration of words and notions of profound resonance and Truth, time for reflection and contemplation extends beyond the duration of the class, and texts are often revisited and reviewed.
